Children’s Books

Hello world!  I may be undertaking a new project soon to illustrate a series of 30 children’s books.  They will be very simple, short, educational books for young children, written by my very talented mother (who also happens to be a kindergarden teacher).  If it all pans out, the project will be published by Wiley, the same company that published Pampering Your Pooch (for which I was credited as Illustrator).

Although neither project is in the same format or style I’m used to, it’s still illustration work, which I’m always excited about!  :)

I thought I’d share a list of some of my favorite children’s book illustrators and some examples of their books.  I’m dying to hear what illustrators you guys/gals like!  I’m always on the look out for unique/interesting books and artists for inspiration…plus I’m a collector!  ;)   Here’s a short list:

Patricia Reeder Eubank - The ABCs of Halloween

Brian Froud - The World of the Dark Crystal , The Goblins of Labyrinth

Tony Diterlizzi - Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide… (The Spiderwick Chronicles)

Gris Grimly - Boris and Bella, Edgar Allen Poe’s Tales of Mystery and Madness

K Y Craft - Sleeping Beauty

Leave a comment with any of your favorite illustrators or illustrated books and I’ll check them out!
